"Radiohead have made available a new song for paid download at their Dead Air Space website. The song, "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)" is, you guessed it, a tribute to the memory of Harry Patch, the last surviving World War I combat soldier, who died at age 111 on July 25 and will be buried tomorrow. The download will cost £1 (appx. $1.70), with all proceeds going to the UK veterans' charity the Royal British Legion. It can also be streamed via the BBC." - Pitchfork

"Think your band has been through some tough times? Try this curveball on for size: a successful album release, a national tour (both as an opening act and as a headliner) and significant radio and television airplay around your native country. This, all to be stopped in its tracks to a screeching halt with the departure of one of your founding members, whose co-lead vocals assisted in establishing your sound to begin with. Tough, right? It certainly seems a difficult obstacle, which is why it’s entirely understandable that it’s taken Sydney in-crowd kids Red Riders so long to follow up their debut record, Replica Replica. With said founding member Adrian Deutsch out of the picture (now replaced by Vines bassist Brad Healdon guitar), the lead vocal duties now are based entirely around fellow vocalist/guitarist Alex Grigg. It’s impressive enough that the band has survived their downfall, but the plot thickens when the product of the new-look band, Drown in Colour, is such an engaging album. There’s little flaw to be found and enough substance to warrant a new sense of interest in the band." fasterlouder
"Opening with the anthemic “…And Now You’re Old Enough, I Think That You Should Know”, Sugar Army’s Where Do You Hide Your Toys EP is the sonic eclecticism of dance rock done right for once. The label doesn’t do their sound justice though – the West Australian four piece are at home channeling anything from the Cure and QOTSA to Muse, with vocalist Patrick Mclaughlin’s distinctive pipes cutting over gritty riffs and leading unfailingly into shout-along choruses almost guaranteed to make Sugar Army a killer live act. “Jigsaw” is discordant and layered with jangly guitars and falsetto while “Maybe The Boy Who Cried Wolf Was Just Paranoid” is the sleeper, with a dirty driving rhythm, weird choral overdubs and brilliant percussion. The other half of the album, please – and soon."-Rolling Stone

Artist: The Depreciation Guild Album: Dream About Me 7" Year: 2009
Genre:Indie,Electronica,Pop,Shoegaze
Tracklist: 1. Dream About Me 2. Listless
"The Depreciation Guild is a fuzzed-out, reverb drenched rock/electronic duo consisting of Kurt Feldman (guitar, vocals, programming/chip-tunes, toys), Christoph Hochheim (guitar, vocals), and Anton Hochheim (live drums). Backed solely by a Nintendo Entertainment System, the band blankets their sound with the crushing blows of its 8-Bit 2A03 sound chip. Drawing inspiration from a wide array of classic shoegaze/dream-pop bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Pale Saints, and Cocteau Twins, as well as electronic composers such as Bill Nelson and YMO, The Depreciation Guild have artfully cultivated a unique sound that strikes a balance between progressive and retro-chic." ''Following in the creative vein of his last album, it engulfs the listener in a welcoming wash of processed piano and strings, leaving plenty of room for solemn introspection or blissful repose. Genre: indie, slowcore, ambient, dream pop, post rock. Tracklist: 1. Prologue 2. Kettering 3. Sylvia 4. Atrophy 5. Bear 6. Thirteen 7. Two 8. Shiva 9. Wake 10. Epilogue
"Hospice is the critically acclaimed first full-length studio album by American indie rock group The Antlers, initially self-distributed by the band, though set for a remastered, CD/vinyl release via Frenchkiss Records on August 18. Vocalist Peter Silberman wrote the album after over 2 years of social isolation in Brooklyn, New York.
The album tells an explicit story (in first-person narrative) of a man losing a loved one to bone cancer and watching her die in the Sloan Kettering Cancer Ward while he is beside her. Memories, regret and grief occur throughout the album."
